Stunning Conversion Using Ceracasa 'Orion' 1m x 1m Floor Tiles
We are proud to have our Ceracasa Orion Floor Tile specified in this stunning property renovation in Sevenoaks, Kent. This was a high-end project and our tiles were chosen before the renovation began. There is under-floor heating throughout and our tiles work in harmony with this. The clients had a specific finish in mind and we can honestly say, the finished product is one of the best we have ever seen!
The property already had a large footprint from previous extensions. However, the new project was to knock-down the majority of the rear part of the existing property, extend and then re-roof to completely modernise in to a huge open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. The addition of a high roof line with lanterns and electronically opening VELUX roof-lights really opened the space up, with more light aided by huge multi-folding doors by ORIGIN.
The reason that the whole rear space works so well is the concept of bringing the outside in and to this end, a large part of the budget was spent on creating a simply stunning rear garden that the doors open out on to. With sawn sandstone paving, raised beds and gentle soft landscaping and trickling water features the whole project is a true success.
Meticulous planning with architects and builders, coupled with a great eye for design and the final finished look is visually stunning.
The kitchen from Burnhill Kitchens is sumptuous and features concealed handles, brushed detailing and soft-closing features. The mix of colours in the design and stunning worktop add a unique dimension to the kitchen which, with the huge island and cooking area, is the complete space for the family to gather around. From the gorgeous extractor to the 'Neff' appliances and tap with instant hot water, this is the ultimate in style and design and the installation is flawless.
The furniture has been greatly thought out. Stylish, contemporary, functional but truly luxurious! The 'Bonaldo Big' dining table in stunning natural oak is from Go Modern, as are the 'Bontempi Nata' bar stools which feature anthracite Eco leather.
The gorgeous 'Jesse Plateau' sideboard, which has gorgeous red detail inner cabinets and concealed handles, to follow the kitchen theme through, is also from Go Modern as is the 'Avante' TV unit and cabinet.
It would have been very easy and safe to carry on dressing the space in subtle tones, but the clients used the background to the add some brilliant colours in the form of the soft and comfortable beautiful multi-coloured leather dining chairs from The London Furniture Company, which flank the dining room table and also the amazing, 'Genie' multi-coloured rug from love-rugs. Selected oil paintings also carry on the vibrant colour finishing touch.
We are sure you will agree that this is a space that we would all love to live in, especially to lounge about on the 'Flynn' brown leather sofas from Habitat! A truly dream design.
We are thrilled that we were involved in such a high-end project and we can do the same for you and your project. Please contact us for these large format tiles or any other tiles you have seen on our web site. We can not wait to hear from you!

Gorgeous V&A Puddle Glaze Peacock Crackle Metro Tiles!
We are delighted to share with you a wall tile and floor tile project that we have been involved in and a renovation of a bathroom and bedroom. These photos are just snap-shots. Our client is a brilliantly talented photographer and once the project is entirely finished, she will be sending us more shots of the whole project which we cannot wait for!
We supplied samples to the client of various metro tiles with various finishes until they finally settled upon our stunning V&A Puddle Glaze Crackle Metro Tiles for the walls and our extremely popular FILITA Porcelain floor tiles!
The original old shower enclosure was halved which made the bedroom even larger to accommodate the client's gorgeous taste in antique and vintage furniture along with adequate wardrobe space. The colour of the tiles which can be best described as bottle or peacock green really suit the colour scheme of the room which will end up being darker blue/green and dark slate grey hues with hints of mustard colour fabrics. Together with the antique touch, this shows how modern metro tiles can still adapt to many different styles and tastes. It also confirms that you can be bold in your tile choice without sticking to safe white and creams!
You will see in the above picture a flash of our FILITA Porcelain Floor Tiles which have been laid on top of under-floor Heat-Mat heating element which works perfectly to warm those toes on colder mornings! Filita is a beautiful slate effect porcelain tile. Available in 8 colours, you should easily find the right choice for your home! Available in 49 x 98cm and 31 x 63cm, the tiles suit both large and small spaces and indoor and outdoor areas. Practical, durable and just beautiful, these porcelain floor tiles are perfect tiles for both contemporary and traditional homes.
Our range of metro and crackle wall tiles is growing monthly and we are finding that our customers are seeking more bold and chic colour choices. Terracotta - A brief look
Terracotta (Terra-Cotta) in Italian translation means ‘baked earth’ and also ‘baked clay’ and generally the term refers to the orange/brown/red colour of most Terracotta. It has been used throughout history for art and pottery as well as bricks, roof coverings and other building materials.
The word ‘Terracotta’ is fascinating in that it is a word used liberally in the UK and a word that most people will recognise instantly, even though it is, essentially, a foreign word. But it is also a word that evokes our Mediterranean senses, the sights, colours, warmth, sounds and smells of distant places that we may have been lucky enough to have visited or seen or read about in films, documentaries or books. It transports us (personally) to warmer weather and a glorious villa with a pool and surrounded by a terracotta tiled floor (of course!) that is warm underfoot with a good book in one hand and a cold, ice-filled drink in the other! It is these images and feelings, we think, that have made us love terracotta flooring and want us to re-create that look and feeling in our own homes.
It’s not just that though. Terracotta tile flooring is a beautiful and versatile product. It is also hard wearing making it a great value product. It is a most commonly a hand-made product and therefore the colour combinations and surface vary depending on where in the world the product has been produced. There are some companies that offer newly produced and re-claimed terracotta with different sizes and you therefore have a product that really can look different every time. In the main, most terracotta tiles are a colour palette mix of reds, browns, pinks, earthy and golden hues.
What is so beautiful about terracotta tiles is their unique individual warm character and appearance. Each tile is slightly different and has a different make-up including colour tone variations, minor pitting, bumps and blemishes on the surfaces and edges. When you couple this with the fact that they can be sealed and waxed with different products, achieving different looks is easy.
Terracotta tiles are full of rustic charm and character and can be used in different locations. Kitchens, hallways, bathrooms and even outside! If they are used outside, more consideration has to be given to the application of sealant, wax and grouting. More importantly, is the future care, especially as in the UK we experience a colder, wetter, frostier climate than our Mediterranean neighbours! The same applies if an area is susceptible to water ingress such as a bathroom.
Generally, the care and attention to laying and sealing terracotta tiles is pretty much the same as natural stone in that more thought needs to be given to treatment before and after fixing, especially if using a wet cutter during tiling. For the terracotta tiles we supply, we would recommend sealing in the traditional manner using LTP Boiled Linseed Oil, LTP Antique Wax. Furthermore and as aftercare, you can finish with LTP Ironwax Gloss or Satin. For a lighter finish, you could try a synthetic method using LTP Colour Intensifier and finish with either LTP Ironwax Gloss or Satin. Please click here to view sealants.
Terracotta tiles also work well with under-floor heating, because they have such great heat retaining qualities and evenly distribute and release heat. The natural insulating qualities of terracotta tiles means they release warmth in an efficient way. That is why they can be so great outdoors as in the summer months, you will still enjoy warmth from your floor long after the sun has started to set making those summer nights and BBQ’s even better!
Our Terracotta Tile products are currently divided in to two ranges. Firstly we have the ‘teatree’ range which consists of two sizes, 34 x 34 cm (2.5 cm thick) and 20 x 20 cm (2 cm thick). We also have the ‘honey’ range consisting of three sizes, 20 x 20 cm, 30 x 30 cm and 30 x 20 cm (all 2 cm thick). We would say that the teatree has more red hues than the honey which is more golden. Either however, clearly define what a terracotta tile should be with their natural warm tones and depth of colours. (Below image is from the 'honey' range)
If we can assist with your project, whether terracotta or with other tiles such as porcelain tiles, metro tiles or encaustic tiles, then please do not hesitate to contact us!
