Cool Tiles Trending Now! 2 Minute Read
There is such a diverse choice of Floor and Wall tiles that it is almost impossible to pin down what is the most fashionable tile or best trending tile! Getting the right mix of tiles, if undertaking a complete room makeover, is also difficult and we help our customers on these choices daily. The age of property you are updating or renovating can also define the type of tiles you want to use, as can the different use of materials and colours in a scheme.
For large open plan spaces, the tile trend still seems to be large format porcelain tiles and either with a polished porcelain finish or a more traditional matt or stone finish. For period properties, we have seen a huge leap in sales of our Victorian Floor Tiles and as the Patterned Tile choice grows, we are finding more modern homes are also choosing these decorative tiles for their bathrooms, kitchens and hallways. Encaustic tiles and patterned porcelain tiles are still growing in popularity and pattern choices seem to be changing and growing at a rapid rate!
We are working with builders and architects who are being asked by clients to create outdoor spaces that are a continuation of the indoor space and again, we are finding our plank style wood effect porcelain floor tiles are becoming more popular for this reason. People love entertaining outside with the pizza oven, BBQ's and smoker industry booming. We certainly think that the outdoor space market is growing as people are steering away from traditional Indian Sandstone type paving to more sleek styling and in turn, outdoor porcelain tiles whilst still needing maintaining, do not have the drawback of natural sandstone. People are allowing a larger budget to create outdoor spaces when renovating or updating properties.
Bathrooms are becoming more and more adventurous! We still sell many porcelain tiles and metro tiles. But we are certainly seeing more geometric tiles selling along with hexagon tiles and fish scale or scallop tiles becoming a huge trend! There is a huge choice of metro tiles, crackle glaze tile and plain coloured tiles but the choice in sizes and colours are growing. There are some beautiful glazed antique style tiles coming on to the market. Bathrooms do not necessarily have to be fully tiled. As can be seen in the image below, using our Atlantis Scallop mosaics can create a gorgeous back-drop for this bathroom.
One thing that is important, is to choose a tiler who is going to not only fix your tiles competently, but also has some imagination and ability in suggesting alternative laying patterns and designs. For instance, metro tiles can be laid in a brick bond fashion or stacked pattern but can also be laid in various herringbone tile designs. We are also seeing some brilliant tile designs where a mix of tiles are used for instance on floors incorporating wood effect herringbone patterns or parquet flooring patterns with hexagon tiles!
